The property featured in Kevin Costner's iconic baseball movie Field of Dreams has been snapped up by investors who plan to turn the site into a sporting mecca.
The Iowa land was put on the market last year (May10) by owners Don and Becky Lansing, who have maintained the cornfield and baseball diamond built by Universal Studios crew workers for the 1989 film.
Now the site's legacy is to be preserved after it was purchased for an undisclosed amount by Go the Distance Baseball bosses, who have announced plans to transform it into a so-called All-Star Ballpark Heaven.
The baseball and softball complex will feature more than 12 state-of-the-art fields as well as an indoor training centre.
Becky Lansing tells the New York Post, "We worked hard to maintain its wholesome allure, and our success says a lot about our nation's love affair with its national pastime."
