Ferrera: 'No One Recognises Me Without Braces'

UGLY BETTY star AMERICAN FERRERA loves wearing her character's unattractive costumes - because she doesn't get recognised when she isn't in character.
The 23-year-old actress dons heavy spectacles and thick braces on her teeth in the title role of the hit U.S. TV show.
But once the props are removed, fans of the show find it difficult to spot the star as she looks so different from her on-screen persona.
She tells British magazine Star, "People give me looks and think, 'Do I know you from high school?' They don't know where to place me, but they recognise me.
"It's nice. I love the anonymity that I get when I am not wearing braces."
