Feeder Resurrect 'Buck Rogers'

Feeder have resurrected 'Buck Rogers' because they reckon it is a "great festival song".

The Welsh rock group had retired their biggest hit in 2008, as they had grown tired of playing it, but resurrected it at the Virgin Media V Festival, for which they were the main stage opening act this year.

Frontman Grant Nicholls said: "We sort of put it to bed really because we got kind of bored of playing it, but it is a great festival song.

"I think you have to be careful at festivals if you try and be too cool for school it doesn't work, you need to give people the tunes they know.

"I've been to see bands playing and I know people get sick of playing their biggest hit, but everyone's got one and the audience usually want to hear that."

Grant also told how he originally wrote the song for another band, US group 'Radio Star', but producer Gil Norton convinced him of the song's potential to be a hit.

Grant explained to Absolute Radio: "I started writing this song and then it the label heard it, it was like a demo, and they were like 'Oh hang on a minute, guys, I think you might have a hit record here'.

"It was just a demo, just very, very rough lyrics. I mean, the whole thing is very, very simple and throwaway, that was the whole point of it really, and it stuck.

"I actually rewrote the whole song, and Gil convinced me to use the original player lyrics and stuff, which is pretty."

Buck Rogers peaked at number five in the UK singles chart in January 2001.
