Fats Domino Returns To The Stage
The Ain't That A Shame legend, who chose to weather the storm rather than flee Louisiana in August 2005, performed a set with longtime pal Herbert Hardesty as part of a benefit show.
The 79-year-old star performed a string of hits including Blueberry Hill and Blue Monday at a Tipitina's Foundation showcase. The concert was held to help raise cash for New Orleans' rebuilding programme.
Fats Domino has been on the other end of charity recently after losing his home, his pianos and his gold and platinum records in the flood caused by the hurricane.
Saturday night's show marked Domino's first public performance since he played a casino concert in Mississippi in May 2005.
More than 20 per cent of the proceeds from the concert will go toward the ongoing restoration of Domino's home, which the singer/songwriter is expected to return to later this year (07).
