LATEST: Fashion's biggest names have paid tribute to Italian fashion designer GIANFRANCO FERRE who died at the age of 62 after suffering a brain haemmorhage.
Ferre died at Milan's San Raffaele hospital on Sunday night (17JUN07).
Giorgio Armani and Donatella Versace are the first to express their sorrow. Armani says, "I particularly admired him for his coherence and the intellectualism and artistry upon which he based his fashion philosophy until the end."
Versace called him "a gentleman from another time", adding, "I am so upset. Ten years after the death of my brother, I have now lost a friend as well."
The former president was believed by some to have been suffering from dementia during his second term in office from 1984 to 1988.
