Farley Granger - Farley Granger Dies In New York Aged 85

Farley Granger, the Hollywood actor and star of stage and screen, passed away in New York yesterday from natural causes (28th March 2011), reports E! Online.The actor was best known for his legendary collaborations with the moviemaker Alfred Hitchcock. He began his career in California, where he landed roles in 'The North Star' and 'Purple Heart' before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in the mid 1940's. When he returned to the movie business, he landed a role in Hitchcock's classic movie 'Rope', alongside James Stewart. He worked with the director again on 1951's 'Strangers on a Train', which represented his biggest movie role. Granger will also be remembered for his performances in 'Sense', 'The Naked Street' and 'The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing' and he made numerous appearances on television and in the theatre. The actor opened up about his Hollywood career in his 2008 memoir 'Include Me Out: My Life From Goldwyn to Broadway', revealing details of his relationships with both men and women.

Farley Granger's long-term partner, the soap opera producer Robert Calhoun, passed away in 2008.
