Fans Remember Ian Curtis, 32 Years On

Fans have paid tribute to JOY DIVISION's Ian Curtis, who died 32 years ago today (18.05.12).

Lovers of the post-punk British band have taken to twitter to remember the singer, who committed suicide on May 18 1980 at the age of 23.

Joy Division has become a Top 10 trend on the social networking site, where moving tributes to the legendary frontman are flooding in.

The 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' singer - who suffered from epilepsy and depression - hanged himself in 1980 at his Macclesfield home.

Ian and bandmates Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and STEPHEN MORRIS are best known for their albums 'Unknown Pleasures' and 'Closer'. The iconic band formed in 1976 at a Sex Pistols gig.

In 1995 Ian's widow, Deborah Curtis, published an biography, 'Touching From A Distance: Ian Curtis and Joy Division'. The late singer's life has been adapted into two films, '24 Hour Party People' (2002) and 'Control' (2007).
