DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES' brother CHARLES SPENCER was "shocked and sickened" by an American TV show screening pictures of his dying sister.

CBS show 48 HOURS INVESTIGATES this week (21APR04) dedicated a whole hour to the conspiracy surrounding the 1997 Paris car crash that claimed the lives of Diana, her lover Dodi Fayed and their chauffeur HENRI PAUL - including black and white photographs from the crash site, obtained from the official French investigation into the accident.

The show, which LORD SPENCER refused to be a part of, has sparked an international uproar over the images, which clearly show Diana lying among the wreckage.

A statement from the Spencer family reads, "Lord Spencer and his family are shocked and sickened by CBS's actions."

British Prime Minister Tony Blair also condemned the programme, saying, "Everyone finds it distasteful that there are pictures that can cause distress to the family."

And Dodi's father Mohamed Al Fayed accused CBS of "cashing in" to boost ratings, adding, "It is devastating for me and for Prince William and Prince HARRY."

A spokesman for CBS insists the pictures were shown in a "journalistic context - an examination of the medical treatment given to Princess Diana just after the crash."
