Fall Out Boy Make Triumphant Return, Though Offer No Clues As To Where They're Headed Next

It’s only been three years, but the fervor that greeted Fall Out Boy’s live return has been like they’ve been away a decade or more. Yep, Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley have told that this isn’t a reunion, because they never split up, they just went on hiatus. But from the nature of their last minute intimate shows – including Los Angeles last night (February 7, 2013) – there’s no denying the fans attitude towards this – they’ve been away, and they’ve been away too long.

MTV reports that at the Roxy venue on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, the queue to get in for Fall Out Boy’s show snaked back to the horizon, whilst inside some of the band’s old contemporaries like 3OH!3 and Cobra Starship watched on as their friends made a triumphant return. What Fall Out Boy didn’t provide was much of a clue as to where they were going in the future; the set drew from old classics like ‘Dance, Dance’, ‘Sugar We’re Goin’ Down’ and ‘This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race’ with only one new song offered.

That new song was the comeback single ‘My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark’, which borrows from a sample and certainly suggests that Fall Out Boy aren’t quite the excitable scamps that first came about in the beginning of the last decade, but are still full of energy and vim nonetheless.
