Ann Curry - Extent Of Ann Curry's Today Show 'Torture' Revealed In New Book
Ann Curry's behind the scenes drama during her time on the 'Today Show' have been revealed in Brian Stelter's new book.
Ann Curry's final days on the 'Today Show' have been unveiled in Brian Stelter's new book.
The 56-year-old anchor left the popular show over a year ago, but the dramatic events that went on behind the scenes which pushed her to leave have finally been documented in 'Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV'.
Stelter suggests she felt tortured, adding: ''Curry was stunned by [the executives'] callousness, and she felt the publicity surrounding the transition robbed her of a chance to exit gracefully, and she basically shut down.''
Curry was close to tears when she announced a year ago she was leaving, saying: ''This is not easy to say but today is going to be my last morning as a regular co-host of 'Today'.''
Rumours circulated shortly after her announcement suggesting Matt Lauer had played a role in her departure from the show.
Stelter went on to explain: ''Curry felt that the boy's club atmosphere behind the scenes at 'Today' undermined her from the start, and she told friends that her final months were a form of professional torture.''
He continued: ''The growing indifference of Matt Lauer, her co-host, had hurt the most, but there was also just a general meanness on set.''
