Eva Longoria: 'Sheridan/cherry Trial Leaves Stain On Desperate Housewives' Legacy'

Actress Eva Longoria has spoken out about the recent court battle between her former Desperate Housewives co-star Nicollette Sheridan and show creator MARC CHERRY, insisting the bitter legal spat has left a "stain" on the hit drama's legacy.

Sheridan sued Cherry and executives at Touchstone Television Production for wrongful termination after claiming her Desperate Housewives character was killed off because she complained to producers about an incident between herself and Cherry, during which the writer/producer allegedly struck her.

A battery charge against Cherry was dismissed before jury deliberations began last month (Mar12) and the jurors then struggled to reach a verdict, prompting the judge overseeing the case to declare a mistrial.

Longoria and her castmates wrapped filming on the final season of Desperate Housewives earlier this year (12) and the actress admits the looming trial proceedings ruined the last days of filming.

She tells U.S. breakfast show Good Morning America, "I was surprised there was even a trial and it went that far because I love Nicollette and I love Marc Cherry and I love our work environment. It's a stain on our legacy as a hit show and so it was just unfortunate, the whole thing."

Longoria was not called on to testify in court, but co-star James Denton was.

It is not known if the actress and other castmates will be asked to appear in court if there is a second trial.
