Espn Making Big Plans For Mlb Coverage
ESPN's plans to air another season of Monday Night Football may have been placed in limbo by the current NFL lockout, but baseball is another matter. The cable sports network has announced plans to launch its MLB coverage in a big way beginning on Thursday by televising three opening games over four days. The new announcing team of Dan Shulman, Orel Hershiser and Bobby Valentine will travel first to Los Angeles for the season opener between the World Champion San Francisco Giants and arch-rival the Los Angeles Dodgers. (Hershiser and Valentine are former Dodger players.) The next day, they'll go to Arlington, TX to call the game between the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox, then return to Los Angeles for another game between the Dodgers and Giants on Sunday. The games will not only be available on cable via ESPN but also online via ESPN3.com and ESPN Mobile TV.
