Sorry, Guys: Emma Watson Will Not Star In 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

Emma Watson has ended speculation linking her with the upcoming adaption of 50 Shades of Grey once and for all by taking to her Twitter account on Saturday (March 16) to bring the rumours to an end at long last. The golden girl of British cinema posted the relatively obvious question "Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie?" on to her Twitter timeline and whilst her portrayal of Anastasia Steele from EL James' bestselling erotica novel would be something of a dream come true for many, she does have a very valid point in asking that question.

Her follow-up post was just a single question mark, followed by a 15 hour break before she returned to the site to post: "Good. Well that's that sorted then."

The Perks of Being A Wallflower star had previously denied the rumours linking her to the project as far back as last summer, but the rumours have since persisted and became even more regular last week, when hacking collective Anonymous claimed to have obtained a studio document stating that Watson is attached to star in the film. The upcoming adaptation is being overseen by Universal Pictures and Focus Features, who bought the rights for the project in March last year.

Emma Watson was denied her involvement in the 50 Shades adaption, hopefully for the last time.

Despite being in production for around a year already, we are still no closer to a 50 Shades film, with the actors still to be decided and the script allegedly still being penned. As well as Watson, Mila Kunis has also been linked to the role of Anastacia Steele, but recently ruled herself out too, as has fellow Brit-beauty Keira Knightley. Meanwhile Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum and Henry Cavill have all been strongly linked as potential Christian Greys.
