Eminem Signs New Deal

07 March 2007
Rapper Eminem has signed a new deal with Universal Music Publishing Group.

The Grammy-winning artist has penned an "exclusive, worldwide administration agreement" with the company which includes hits past and present.

Eminem's greatest hits collection Curtain Call, as well as the Detroit rapper's new offering Eminem Presents: The Re-Up, are included in the deal, as are songs co-written on 50 Cent's The Massacre, the Akon-produced Smack That and any new material.

According to Universal, the deal also involves a joint venture with Shady Music Publishing, the rapper's publishing company.

This will allow Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, and his manager Paul Rosenberg to sign other writers and artists.

David Renzer, Universal's chairman and chief executive, said: "Eminem is an icon for millions of music fans around the globe.

"His success as a writer and producer for both his own records as well as other artists continues to grow. We are honoured that Eminem and his representatives have chosen Universal Music Publishing Group as their new home."

Eminem has won nine Grammy Awards, including three for best rap album and three for best rap solo performance.
