Eminem "can't understand" why his father walked out on his family.

The 'We Made You' star has had minimal contact with his dad Marshall Mathers, Jr. since he abandoned him when he was just a baby and admits he can't imagine ever neglecting his own children in the same way.

He said: "I never knew him, never met him, never knew him. I don't know if I want to see him. Some people ask me that, and I don't think I do.

"I can't understand how he could leave us. If my kids moved to The Edge of the earth, I'd find them. No Doubt in my mind. No money, no nothing - if I had nothing I'd find my kids. So there's no excuse."

The hip-hop superstar has a 14-year-old daughter Hailie, his child with ex-wife Kimberley Scott, and two adopted girls Alaina, the child of Kimberley's sister, and Whitney - Kimberley's daughter from a previous relationship.

He is also the legal guardian of his younger half-brother Nathan.

The 37-year-old rap star - whose real name is Marshall Mathers III - also spoke about his struggles at school, admitting he was a target for bullies because he moved around so much.

He explained on US TV show '60 Minutes': "I would change schools two, three times a year and that was probably the roughest part.

"I got beat up in the bathroom, beat up in the hallways, shoved in the lockers, just, for the most part, being the new kid."
