Emeli Sande - Emeli Sande Wants To Win A Brit Award To Rectify 2012 Snub
Scottish singer Emeli Sande is desperate to win a Brit Award this week (beg18Feb13) so she can finally accept a trophy on stage after her 2012 victory was axed from the show's schedule due to time restraints.
The soul star has landed a clutch of four nominations ahead of the London prizegiving on Wednesday (20Feb13), when she will compete in categories including British Female Solo Artist and British Album for Our Version of Events.
Sande won her first Brit last year (12) but she didn't get a chance to pick up her trophy during the ceremony as the schedule over-ran, so she is desperately hoping she will be able to get some stage time this year.
She tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "It wasn't the best of experiences last year. It was exciting to win an award, but I didn't get to go up and do a speech. If I did win one this time, I'd like to do it properly, although I haven't planned what I'm going to say because I don't want to jinx it. I didn't even have an album out last year or the chance to prove myself, so getting to go back this year and getting that acknowledgement means a lot."
Sande reveals the one award she really wants to win is the British Album title, but she faces tough competition from Plan B (Ill Manors), Alt-J (An Awesome Wave), Paloma Faith (Fall to Grace) and Mumford & Sons (Babel).
She adds, "That's why you do it and that's why you put yourself out there. It's a very big category though. I'm up against some heavyweights."
