Elvis Presley Bible Sells At Auction
The holy book, which was given to the singer in 1957 by his aunt and uncle, went under the hammer at an auction in England on Saturday (08Sep12).
The final bid, allegedly placed by an American man living in the U.K., shattered the expected sale price of $40,000 (£25,000).
The Bible, which contains Presley's handwritten annotations, was one of a trove of Presley items that were up for grabs at the Omega Auctions in Stockport
A pair of stained underpants which hadn't been washed since the Jailhouse Rock star wore them onstage in 1977 did not sell after bids failed to reach the reserve price.
