Elton Joins Prince For Beatles Coverby Contributor | 14 September 2007
The audience at Prince's O2 Arena gig last night received a surprise when Sir Elton John stepped on to the stage for an unexpected collaboration.
His appearance was greeted with wild cheering from the crowd before he settled down to perform a version of the Beatles' The Long and Winding Road with Prince.
The Minneapolis star was content to play guitar as Sir Elton took on the vocals and piano.
One member of the audience described Sir Elton's performance as "slightly overblown".
"He was warbling on each note booming out each line. But the crowd really liked it," the fan said.
Prince also performed a cover of Amy Winehouse's Love Is A Losing Game and delighted the O2 Arena crowd with songs including 1999, Controversy and Sometimes It Snows In April.
He appeared so pleased with Sir Elton's appearance that he stayed for three encores.
Prince is approaching the end of his record-breaking residency at the O2 Arena, which comprises 21 dates in total and ends on September 21st.
