Elijah Wood - Elijah Wood to star in The Late Bloomers
Elijah Wood has been chosen to star in Randall Einhorn's offbeat comedy 'The Late Bloomers'.
Elijah Wood is set to star in indie comedy 'The Late Bloomers'.
The 'Lord of The Rings' actor has been handpicked by director Randall Einhorn - who works with him on TV show 'Wilfred' - to star as a 30-year-old man who discovers he hasn't fully undergone puberty due to a medical condition.
The quirky film is based on Ken Baker's 2001 memoir 'Man Made: A Memoir of My Body' and the casting of the youthful-looking actor promises a very ''entertaining'' adaptation of the true story.
Maggie Monteith, who is financing and executive producing the film in association with Dignity Film Finance, said: ''The combination of Einhorn and Wood is exceptional, as we've seen with the success of 'Wilfred'. I know that they will honor Baker's true story in a very entertaining way.''
Director Randall added: '''The Late Bloomer' is the type of wonderful heartfelt comedy that I like to engage in. Puberty can be difficult at best and has the potential to be extremely comedic in normal circumstances.''
The script was written by Joe Nussbaum and redrafted by Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove, reports Variety. Jesse Israel, Heidi Jo Markel and Brent Emery are on board to produce.
Elijah can next be seen in Peter Jackson's epic 'LOTR' prequel, 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey', as well as the remake of 'Maniac'. He is currently shooting psychological thriller 'Grand Piano' with John Cusack.
'The Late Bloomer' is scheduled to begin production in January.
