Electric Daisy Carnival Heats Up Las Vegas

ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL, billed by the media as the U.S's biggest rave, got underway this weekend in Las Vegas. Until this year, ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL had been held in Los Angeles, but following the overdose-related death of a 15 year old after last year's event, organisers Insomniac Inc. were forced out of the city, and relocated to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, reported the Los Angeles Times. Friday saw sets from Calvin Harris and TEISTO, Saturday featured David Guetta and Empire of the Sun, and today's big names are Swedish House Mafia and Paul Oakenfold, and over 250,000 people will be in attendance.

Apparently there had been some trouble, with people waiting over two hours to enter the site, following rigorous searches by the security guards, as the festival attempted to removed as many illicit substances from the event as possible. Once inside, however, the organisers had managed to illuminate many of the congestion and crowding problems that dogged the Electric Daisy Carnival in previous years, the Wall Street Journal reported. One reveller said: "It's not congested at all, people are just walking to main-lining acts and not having much of a problem. They've clearly solved the problem at this venue." So far there have been no casualties and just a handful of hospitalisations. The final night of the carnival kicks off tonight at 8pm.
