El Debarge Walks Free, Cleared Of Drug Possession Charges

El DeBarge has been cleared of drug possession charges from his arrest last week. Spencer Vodnoy, acting as attorney for the 'Rhythm of the Night' singer has told TMZ that Los Angeles police "made a huge mistake" when they arrested him on suspicion of drug dealing last week and said "At the end of the day the truth appears to have prevailed and I am sure he will be getting back to work on his career, his health and happiness."

The former singer with the family pop group Debarge was arrested for possession of cocaine, with intent to sell. However, there was not enough evidence to prove that El had done anything wrong, so charges had to be dropped. He had been picked up when officers found the narcotics in an area when DeBarge had been standing with another man - Curtis Freeman. Police had been carrying out an investigation near to the 101 Freeway and White Oaks Avenue in Los Angeles.

This isn't the first time that El DeBarge has been arrested in connection with drug use, or drug possession and at the time of this latest arrest, his attorney said "The DeBarge family is very close knit and have had their struggles with substance abuse. They will do what they always have done, which is to support their sibling through this" and in his latest statement, reveals that the DeBarge family are "relieved to hear that no charges will be filed" against him.
