Edward James Olmos - Edward James Olmos To Play Professor On Dexter

Olmos joins the American rapper Mos Def, who is also cast in the forthcoming series. Production on the sixth season of Dexter began in Los Angeles on Wednesday (25th May 2011), with the show scheduled to hit screens in the fall. In addition to his role on 'Battlestar Galactica', Olmos has appeared in 'Miami Vice', 'Selena', and 'Blade Runner'. His performance in Ramon Menendez's drama 'Stand and Deliver' earned him an Oscar nomination. Brooklyn-born rapper Mos Def will take on the role of ex-con 'Brother Sam', a reformed criminal who still attracts violence wherever he goes. Recent guest stars on 'Dexter' have included Jimmy Smiths, John Lithgow and Jilia Stiles.

Edward James Olmos recently completed work on the forthcoming drama movie 'Fill Brown', about a tough Los Angeles street poet who meets a talented DJ and cuts her first demo tape.
