Editors Promise 'Electronic' Albumby Contributor | 16 January 2009
EDITORS have been discussing their new album, claiming that it will have an "electronic" sound.
The Birmingham indie band's last album AN END HAS A START went to number one when it was released in July 2007.
However, bassist Russell Leetch said the band have already demoed ten songs for the new album which have taken a different direction.
Leetch added that they also have another ten tracks ready to rehearse which the band are "buzzing about".
"We've been putting the songs together with different sounds from old and new synths and not just relying on guitars, combining both," he said.
"We've been listening to Georgio Moroder, The Idiot by Iggy Pop, Brad Fiedel, Depeche Mode, Remain In Light by Talking Heads and Burial to name a few."
He added that the album sounds like the time of night when "the foxes are abundant and the lights are low".
The band's debut album, THE BACK ROOM, was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2006.
