Eddie Fisher Dies Aged 82
Fisher was first married to actress Debbie Reynolds, and the couple had two children together, their daughter Carrie Fisher played Princess Leia in the original Stars Wars Trilogy. However, when his best friend Mike Todd died in a plane crash in 1958, Fisher began comforting his widow, Elizabeth Taylor. Soon after, the singer divorced Reynolds and in 1959 married the Hollywood legend. However, the marriage only lasted five years and Taylor went on to marry the actor Richard Burton.
Fisher will perhaps be most remembered for his hits 'Wish You Were Here', and 'Count Your Blessings'. He attempted a 'comeback' in 1983, but the tour was generally unsuccessful and not well received. His family issued a statement saying, "Late last evening the world lost a true America icon. One of the greatest voices of the century passed away."
