Rock legends the EAGLES have gone independent after years as a top GEFFEN and ELEKTRA group.

The HOTEL CALIFORNIA stars will release their new single HOLE IN THE WORLD and album on their own EAGLES RECORDING COMPANY II label.

Eagles manager IRVING AZOFF says, "We're bucking the system. We can release the record when we want, we can price it how we want, and we don't have a middleman taking 80 per cent of the revenues."

The move follows a similar decision by Pearl Jam, who have departed Sony RECORDS to go it alone.
