Dylan's Sympathy For Harrison

American rocker BOB DYLAN feels sorry for the late GEORGE HARRISON, because he believes the former Beatle was constantly overshadowed by bandmates JOHN LENNON and SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY. Dylan, 65, thinks the Got My Mind Set On You star struggled to gain recognition for his own singing and songwriting talents, and would have been as famous as Lennon and MCCartney if he had fronted his own band. He says, "George got stuck with being the Beatle who had to fight to get songs on records because of John Lennon and Paul MCCartney. "Well, who wouldn't get stuck? If George had his own group and was writing his own songs back then, he'd probably have been just as big as anybody."

Had he not been a Beatle I suspect George would have given them a run for their money. Some of his guitar riffs are almost magical and we know of his fondness of sitars ukelele's etc. An altogether unique sound.

I agree with Bob and am glad he has added to the many others who would say the same. Hope he had a lovely birthday yesterday. My computer has crashed and I didn t have the chance to add comments on the day but am sure he had lots of company from those for whom he has complete trust and affection.

I do agree with this Bob Dylan article and the other comments made. I do feel that the late and great George Harrison was certainly as great a songwriter as Sir Paul McCartney and the late and great John Lennon. I never tire of listening to any of the music.George's music has always had a truely melodic and peaceful quality and is always a joy to listen to. I am often filled with hope for world peace when I hear Give Me Love Give Me Peace on Earth, My Sweet Lord and The Day World Gets Round. Then there is those Beatle numbers such as While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, Here Comes the Sun, Taxman, Love You too (using Indian instruments), Want to Tell You and all the rest.

I agree with the comments about George, he was very talented and did not always get the recognition he deserved for his songwriting and singing. Like you, he came across as a compationate person, and put a lot of his feelings into his music. I feel he was overshadowed, and it would have been good to see him with his own band. Our generation will miss him. Its good to have the music he did make on his own to listen to, he was special.

as much as you an George made the world a better place by permitting your genious to be shared; hindsight is 20/20, reality is a different story. This in not written to demean either of you. rather to celebrate you (plural) and your fantabulous works
