Dustin Hoffman - Dustin Hoffman: 'Tv Bosses Were Too Hasty To Cancel Luck'

23 January 2013

Activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) publicly blasted the show last year (12) and called for a halt in filming after three horses were put down due to injuries sustained on set.

Tv chiefs agreed to take a break from production on scenes involving horses to allow American Humane Association officials to conduct an investigation, but the show's executive producers later decided not to proceed with the remainder of the second season.

However, Hoffman feels the decision to axe the series was made too quickly.

He tells Reuters, "They closed us down like a guillotine. The facts were so distorted that it frightened HBO into making that hasty decision.

"It really was a freak accident... But I was so glad I had done it (television). And I would do it again."
