Duran Duran - Duran Duran Reflect On 1993 Album For 20th Anniversary
British pop icons Duran Duran have revisited their self-titled 1993 album and shared their memories of the record to mark its 20th anniversary.
The band's seventh studio disc, also known as The Wedding Album because it featured photos of the four bandmembers' parents' getting married, hit store shelves two decades ago on Saturday (23Feb13) and they have taken a trip down memory lane to reflect on the seminal release in the group's discography.
In a special blog post on the Duran Duran website, frontman Simon Le Bon writes, "Twenty years has gone by since we released The Wedding Album. I've been trying to think of something to say about it, but this far down the line, the music itself makes the most powerful statement of all...
"I remember, at the end of the project, I drove and parked on a dark street somewhere close to home; I took the cassette of the master and put on the stereo. And upon playing The Wedding Album for the first time from start to finish, I began to realise the scope of what we had created together... As I said, the music speaks loudest."
And bassist John Taylor had more personal reasons to remember the 1993 work.
He explains, "This album will always be very special to me, as I believe it is to the entire band. I got married during the course of its creation, and my wife gave birth to a beautiful daughter... It was a very special time."
