Dunst Thief Sentenced To Four Years In Jail

The man convicted of stealing KIRSTEN DUNST's $2,000 (£1,330) designer purse from a New York hotel room in 2007 has been jailed for four years.

James Jimenez was accused of raiding the Spider-Man star's suite at the SoHo Grand Hotel in Manhattan while the actress was filming How to Lose Friends and Alienate People with Simon Pegg and Megan Fox.

Pegg's cell phone was also among the items swiped from the room.

Jimenez faced counts of burglary and trespassing and went on trial last year (09), where jurors found him guilty of the latter charge. They were left deadlocked on the more serious burglary allegation and a retrial took place this summer (10), resulting in the conviction of the accused on the second count in June (10).

Jimenez, who had protested his innocence, returned to Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday (07Sep10), when a judge handed him the four-year sentence.

Both Dunst and Pegg were called to testify in both trials.
