David Duchovny - 'Dull' Duchovny Slated On Broadway

Give him a chance ! It was opening night,for goodness sake. Many plays take time to catch an audience. Mr.Duchovny is a film and television actor and neither prepares you for a stage career. Why do the film versions of plays and musicals seldom,if ever, star the original cast. For the same reason.Stage acting does not transfer to the subtler nuances of filmed performances. I hope that the unfavorable reviews will not keep theatregoers away. I never go to previews and I never go to an opening night performance. It takes time to work out the rough spots and settle into the rhythm of the stage. And having to be "on" for ninety minutes straight, without a break is grueling and terrifying but I have no doubt that Mr. Duchovny,given time and the support of his many fans, will triumph.I am impressed and proud of the sheer courage that it took for him to get up onstage,in front of an audience(including New York critics)who were quite frankly hoping that he would fail (in THEIR jaded eyes) and were ready and willing to tear him apart.Perhaps if he were married to Tom Cruise,the critics would be falling all over themselves with glowing reviews for a mediocre performance.But Mr.Duchovny is not Katie Holmes,thank goodness. I see that the FORMER Mrs. Duchovny was in attendance,camera shy as ever.Perhaps his "disconnection" with the audience was because his worst critic was seated right down front judging his every move. I hear that the play will be coming to L.A. in January and I will be there.But not on opening night. Break a leg,David.And remember, your true and loyal fans will always love and support you unconditionally right to the end.
