Dukes Of Hazzard - Dukes Of Hazzard Star Tom Wopat Proud Of Fan Tarantino

Former Dukes Of Hazzard star Tom Wopat has hazy memories of a young Quentin Tarantino visiting the set of the beloved Tv series.

Tarantino cast Wopat in his new film Django Unchained and the actor is convinced he owes the movie role to the director's love of his 1980s Tv hit.

He tells Wenn, "He (Tarantino) was a big Dukes fan and a student of James Best, who played Rosco P. Coltrane on the show, the sheriff. The story he tells is of riding several buses up to Burbank (California) to go to class on Thursday night and James would let him sleep there and then he would come to the Dukes set the next morning when he was 18 or 19; about the same age as (Dukes co-star) John (Schneider) at the time.

"We had no idea that he'd turn out to be somebody. I had no recollection of him; he was one of the people who hung around. I suppose I talked to him."

And the actor is proud Tarantino has since found success of his own: "To see where he's reached in his career and how he treats actors and crew and the whole filmmaking process is really edifying. Quentin sits by the camera which no directors do anymore... He has struck upon a good formula."
