Dreamworks Animation Pays $33 Million For Awesomenesstv
DreamWorks Animation is paying $33 million in cash -- and possibly a lot more if certain performance objectives are met -- for the little-known (unless you are a teenager) AwesomenessTV, a collection of talk shows, scripted and reality programs and comedy sketches offered via YouTube that has attracted more than 14 million subscribers, many of whom are both providers and viewers of the material. At a presentation by YouTube-owned Google to advertisers Wednesday night, DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg remarked, This is a whole new form of content -- content delivery and content consumption. ... It's the medium of the future, and the future has already arrived.
