Double Win For Chris Evans At Sony Radio Awards
The Radio 2 DJ scooped the Music Radio Personality of the Year prize as well as the Entertainment award at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
BBC Radio 3 was named Station of the Year for the first time while Electric Radio Brixton - a satellite radio programme based at HMP Brixton - won in the Listener Participation and Community categories.
The Sony awards panel, composed of more than 100 industry professionals, said of Electric Radio Brixton: "[This] is an example of what can be achieved when radio is used for what it does best an intimate connection to deliver powerful, meaningful content."
Other winners included former talkshow host Vanessa Feltz who won the Speech Radio Personality Prize ahead of Talksport's Ian Wright and Radio 5 Live's Nicky Campbell and was praised for bringing "humanity and an authentic personality to her programmes".
Accepting her gong Feltz remarked: "I'm absolutely, totally, utterly, thrilled... radio is such a laugh, isn't it?"
Evans was the main presenter for the Park Lane ceremony but took to the podium to accept the Music Radio Personality of the Year award, beating Lauren Laverne, Scott Mills, Simon James and Hill and Zane Lowe to the prize.
The former Radio 1 DJ also took the Entertainment award for his drive time show, with 6 Music's Adam and Joe finishing second, and three Absolute Radio DJs - Tim Shaw, Christian O'Connell and Geoff Lloyd - also nominated.
