Doris Day - Doris Day Shocked By Lifetime Achievement Award
Screen legend Doris Day has spoken of her shock after landing a lifetime achievement award from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
The 87-year-old icon learned in October (11) that her career is to be applauded at the ceremony next week (beg09Jan12), and she has now given her reaction to the news, insisting she is surprised to receive the honour because she hasn't made a film since 1968.
She tells the Los Angeles Times, "It's strange to me to get the award at this point in my life. I can't get over it.
"I wanted to be in films. I wasn't nervous. I just felt, 'I am here. I am supposed to be doing this'. I was so lucky to have such terrific actors and directors."
