Donald Sutherland To Receive Walk Of Fame Star Today

Donald Sutherland, the Emmy Award winning American actor whose film credits include 'The Dirty Dozen', 'JFK' and 'Backdraft', is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this morning (26th January 2011), reports the Beverly Hills Courier. RON MEYER, the President of Universal Studios, will unveil the star outside the Roosevelt Hotel.

The actor's star will be situated next to that of his son's Keifer Sutherland and the unveiling comes just two weeks before the release of the 75-year-old's new movie 'The Mechanic', starring Jason Statham. Sutherland has had a long and distinguished career in film, appearing in more than 130 movies and many regard his appearance as a commanding officer in 1995's 'Citizen X' as his finest ever screen performance. In 2002, the actor scooped a Golden Globe award for his portrayal of the presidential advisor 'Clark Clifford' in the HBO production 'Path to War'.

Sutherland plays a mentor to an assassin in 'The Mechanic' however, his character dies in the opening moments of the film. Speaking recently to the Press Association, the actor admitted that his roles are becoming smaller, joking, "I would like to live all the way through - but regrettably my job in life now is, I'm 75, I come in and say how do you do I'm fine but I have a terminal disease. Cut".
