Don Cornelius - Don Cornelius Hinted At Suicide Plans During Last Phone Call
Soul Train creator Don Cornelius complained about his deteriorating health and hinted at his plans to commit suicide in a phone call to his son moments before he shot himself in the head, according to his autopsy report.
The beloved U.S. TV personality died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in Sherman Oaks, California in February (12), aged 75.
A coroner officially ruled his passing a suicide, and the newly-released full autopsy report reveals Cornelius had been struggling with seizures and extreme pain ever since he was diagnosed with an aneurysm 15 years ago.
His condition severely worsened in the six months leading up to his death, and in the early hours of 1 February (12), Cornelius had apparently had enough.
According to documents obtained by Tmz.com, Cornelius called his son and said, "I don't know how long I can take this..."
His son, who had no idea his dad owned a gun, rushed over to Cornelius' home but he was too late - he found the veteran star "seated in a chair with a pistol in his right hand" and a bullet in his temple.
