Doherty Manager Jailed Over Car Crash
British rocker PETE DOHERTY's manager has been jailed for a year for dangerous driving after he was involved in a car crash which left a man fighting for his life last September (09).
Andrew Boyd was accused of running down 42-year-old Chris Corder in Suffolk, England while behind the wheel of Doherty's car, before driving away without stopping.
Corder has been in a coma since the accident dangerous driving at a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court in January (10). He also pleaded guilty to four other charges including failing to stop at an accident scene and driving without a licence or insurance.
At a court hearing on Wednesday (24Feb10), Boyd was sentenced to a year in jail and told he would be eligible for release on licence in six months.
Corder's sister Jennie was disappointed with the sentence, insisting, "I don't think that man has any remorse. Six months of somebody's life is nothing compared to what my brother is going to have to live through and what we will have to live through."
Boyd was also banned from driving for three years.
Singer Doherty has also been summoned on a charge of permitting the use of a vehicle without insurance. The case was to be heard on Wednesday but it was adjourned until 10 March (10).
