Pete Doherty - Doherty Confirms Baby News

The Babyshambles star's daughter, Aisling, was born to South African model Lindi Hingston in Cape Town on 26 December (11).

Hingston went public with the news earlier this week (13Feb12) but the story was thrown into question because she successfully sued a British tabloid in 2007 for linking her to the star, alleging she had only met him once and "never had physical relations" with him.

Doherty has now admitted he did father the child, but insists he didn't expect Hingston to announce the birth to the media.

He tells Britain's The Independent, "I'm really surprised she's done that (talked to a newspaper)."

Doherty also reveals he wanted to be present for the birth in South Africa, adding, "The little girl was two months premature. I said I'd try to be there for the birth... Yeah, she's mine."

The Brit also has an eight-year-old son, Astile, with singer Lisa Moorish.
