Dmx: 'I'm Not To Blame For Riots'

LATEST: Rapper DMX has hit out at reports his late arrival at a college concert in Indiana on Wednesday night (09Apr08) sparked riots.

The hitmaker - real name Earl Simmons - reportedly took to the stage at Indiana University an hour late, and police were forced to shut him down just three songs into his set.

After escorting the rapper offstage, police were forced to calm the crowd, who started chanting obscenities at them.

Outside, fans and students reportedly hurled trash at the police officers who had shut down the concert.

But the hip-hop star claims the reason for his delayed arrival was due to transport problems and he insists he was not aware of the time limitations connected to his performance.

A DMX representative tells AllHipHop.com, "Regarding the events that took place at the Indiana University DMX Children Uniting Nations concert last night, DMX was not the instigator nor is he to blame for the concert ending early.

"DMX feels its unfortunate that he could not fully perform for this charity show and he hopes to return to Indiana University in the future for another show."
