Django Unchained Debuts At No. 1 On Home Video
Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained scored a trifecta win on the home-video market last week as it placed first on the DVD, Blu-Ray Disc, and rental charts. The movie, which was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar (it lost out to Argo) and scored a victory for Christoph Waltz in the Best Supporting Actor character and an original screenplay award for Tarantino, pushed Warner Bros.' The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey out of the top spot on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert chart, where is had established itself over the past five weeks. It also placed first on Home Media magazine's rental chart. (Anchor Bay Entertainment which distributed the Weinstein Co. film, does not impose a 28-day delay on the major renters like Netflix and Redbox.) Disney/DreamWorks' Lincoln held on to third place on the sales charts in its fourth week at stores, followed by the box set of The Bible: The Epic Miniseries.
