DJ KOOL HERC's mystery illness has been revealed - the hip-hop legend is suffering from kidney stones.
The music pioneer, 55, left a hospital in New York last week (end30Jan11), and friends launched a campaign to raise money for his treatment because he doesn't have medical insurance.
Details of his condition were not made public - but now it's emerged he has kidney stones, according to the New York Daily News.
The musician's sister, Cindy Campbell, tells the publication, "He's been in terrible pain for months. The doctors say they've got to come out, but we just don't have the money... it's starting to affect his health and he's on painkillers, which is no good. This needs to be dealt with soon."
