Diana Krall Sings At Neil Armstrong's Memorial Service
The first man to walk on the Moon died on 25 August (12) at the age of 82, after suffering complications following surgery for blocked coronary arteries.
A private funeral was held in August (12) and it was followed by a public memorial at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., where a Moon rock donated by Armstrong's Apollo 11 crew is embedded in a stained glass window.
Around 1,500 mourners packed the church for the service, including Armstrong's Apollo 11 crewmates Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, and the last man on the Moon, Eugene Cernan, paid tribute to his predecessor in a moving speech.
Cernan's tribute was followed by an emotional performance by jazz star Krall, who sang Fly Me To The Moon in honour of the space adventurer.
