Diana Krall - Diana Krall Remembers Neil Armstrong At Hollywood Bowl Gig
Jazz star Diana Krall paid tribute to late astronaut Neil Armstrong in Los Angeles on Saturday (25Aug12) by performing popular standard Fly Me To The Moon in his honour.
The first man to walk on the moon passed away earlier in the day at a hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and Krall remembered him by dedicating the aptly-named tune to the spaceman during her show at the Hollywood Bowl.
The pianist and singer told fans that she once shared a glass of wine with Armstrong, and sent her condolences to the astronaut's family as she launched into the tune, saying, "He's probably thinking, 'Do I have to listen to that song again?'".
Armstrong wasn't the only man on Krall's mind during the gig - she also played the classic I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face and altered the lyrics to "his face" as she wished her husband, British singer Elvis Costello, a happy 58th birthday.
