Depp's Job Makes Him Sick

JOHNNY DEPP falls ill after every film he makes - because he puts so much effort into creating his characters.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star never gets sick while he is working, but as soon as he finishes each job he comes down with a mystery ailment which keeps him in bed for weeks at a time.
And Depp is convinced he over-exerts himself while he is acting.
He says, "There is a period once you finish a guy - a character - when you're looking to go back to yourself and sometimes it can manifest itself in illness. After I made The Libertine, I was in bed for two weeks. When you're working, you don't get sick, then suddenly it hits you like a two-by-four."

I'm not surprised. An actor has to become a totally different person altogether and he/she usually is drawing the character from past experiences as well as the studying of the character. Once it's over, a whole personality has to come back to the original self, and once relaxed, it leaves an actor open to all kinds of illnesses. It's very draining. It really shows how dedicated Johnny is.

Johnny Depp is such a versatile actor. His superior acting skills enable him to portray so many different characters. He clearly puts his entire heart and soul into each character, so much so that it becomes difficult for him to return to his own person. He is such an asset to the entertainment industry with so many talents. He is one of the very few actors that is so multitalented and takes pride in his craft. We recognize his excellence and salute him. He is a true gem.
