Depp Defends Pirates Movies

Johnny Depp is adamant his decision to continue the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise was not motivated by money - insisting he "loves" his swashbuckling character.

The Hollywood actor has played Captain Jack Sparrow in three of the movies, and is preparing to start filming a fourth installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, this summer (10).

Depp has brushed off accusations he has "sold out" by appearing in a series of blockbuster sequels, insisting he has a genuine affection for the adventure films.

He says, "I can't wait to get back in costume. Some people will say, 'Aha Depp sold out by doing the sequels.' But it was never an issue for me. I love Captain Jack so much I'd do Pirates 7 if they asked."

how could anyone say johnny depp "sold out" by doing another pirates movie??!! that is the most inane thing i have ever read! if anybody saw him as captain jack sparrow they would know that he loves the character by the way he brings captain jack to life. i for one am thrilled he would do 7 if asked cuz i love my CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow & need a dose of him every couple of years!

I love All of Johnny's movies! I do have to say though that Capt. Jack Sparrow is my favorite. I could watch the Pirates adventures over and over. I don't get tired of that series of sequels because they are fun and exciting! Johnny is never a sellout either. I think he genuinely does certain roles very simply because he likes them. He has done many, many interesting roles and does them all with great enthusiasm and authenticity. He really studies each character and then makes them his very own. You go Johnny!!! In my eyes, he's the greatest actor ever and will always be that to me :)

I think he loves being captain Jack and would do it for free. I dont think Johnny Depp would ever be considered a man who does a movie just for the money. He is never a sell out. He has turned down many films that became block busters.
