Depeche Mode are the kings of Europe after storming to the top of the continent's album chart with SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE.
The British electro-pop pioneers' 12th studio album jumped up the chart from 67 to number one, claiming the top spot in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Hungary.
The album is number two in the U.K., France, Norway and Portugal.
Sounds of The Universe gave the trio its highest chart debut in 16 years in the U.S. on Wednesday (29Apr09) when it entered the Billboard countdown at three.
Lady Gaga's former chart-topping album The Fame falls to number two on the European chart.
