Denzel Washington Set To Take Flight
Denzel Washington is being lined for the lead role in action film 'Flight'.
The 56-year-old star is reportedly wanted by producers to play a pilot who becomes a hero when he rescues his aircraft after the plane's engine malfunctions mid flight although evidence of his alcoholism and drug addiction surfaces during a later investigation.
Robert Zemeckis is set to direct from a script penned by 'Coach Carter' writer John Gatins.
Denzel will next take on a leading role in spy thriller 'Safe House' written by 'An Inconvenient Truth' director David Guggenheim and also starring Ryan Reynolds .
The movie tells the tale of a US special agent who goes on the run in South America with a prisoner - played by Denzel - whose safe house is attacked.
Although he has yet to sign on officially to 'Flight', it would continue the actor's love of thriller movies - he has previously starred in classics such as 'Training Day', 'The Manchurian Candidate' and 'American Gangster' and most recently runaway train movie 'Unstoppable'.
