Dench Blasts Alzheimer's Decision
DAME JUDI DENCH has branded the decision to prevent Alzheimer's patients from receiving the best drugs available as "wicked". The actress, who played Alzheimer's sufferer IRIS MURDOCH in 2001 biopic IRIS, is outraged that Britain's National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) ruled this week (begs 09OCT06) that vital medication should not be prescribed until symptoms worsen. She fumes, "This is an appalling disease. It's wicked to remove any drug which gives patients comfort or relief."
