Dewey Bozella was incarcerated for over three decades for a murder he did not commit. He was released in 2000 and was handed the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the annual sports prizegiving in Los Angeles after turning his bitterness into a love for boxing and a desire to help troubled youngsters avoid jail.
Accepting his award at the glitzy gala, Bozella revealed the New York boxing gym he had been training and teaching at had recently closed down - and now he was determined to open his own place, but he needed help.
Touched by his story and his acceptance speech, Moore took to Twitter.com and wrote, "The true hero of tonight's Espy awards Dewey Bozella. pls (please) send me any info on how 2 (sic) keep his dream alive of having his boxing studio 4 (sic) kids."
