A recording of the 911 call during which a friend of Demi Moore said the Hollywood star had "smoked something" and needed medical attention was released on Friday (27 January 2012). Demi suffered convulsions and was semi-conscious after smoking an undisclosed substance, according to the tape.
Reuters reports that the 911 call began with a friend of Moore telling the operator, "She smoked something, it's not marijuana but it is similar to incense". Another woman at Moore's house in Los Angeles then took over and said, "She has been having some issues. I don't know what she has been taking". As the operator spoke calmly to those making the call, one of the friends said Demi was "burning up", unable to speak, and semi-conscious. The tape has shed the first official light on the emergency, though rumors have been swirling for days. According to entertainment website Tmz.com, the actress had been inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas), but this was not mentioned in the call and the 'friend' specifically mentioned Demi had "smoked something".
The Margin Call actress filed for divorce from husband Ashton Kutcher in November, after the Two and a Half Men star had a widely publicized fling with another woman. Her spokeswoman initially said Moore had been hospitalized with "exhaustion".
